KANSAS

Kansas began its journey well before they became popular in the 1970's. The band originated in Topeka, Kansas, but during the 1970's relocated to Atlanta. Some of the members today live in Georgia. They rocked the music world with their hits, "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust In The Wind."  Written by Kerry Livgren and recorded in 1976 on the album Leftoverture, "Carry On Wayward Son" peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, making it their first top 40 hit.  "Dust In The Wind", a last minute addition to the album Point Of Know Return (1977), peaked at #6 on the charts.  Both singles were certified gold and in 2008 Dust In The Wind received certification for its digital downloads.  Kansas has had eight gold albums, three multi-platinum albums and one platinum live album.

Filmed in Atlanta June 15, 2002 at Earthlink Live, Kansas released a masterful DVD entitled "Device Voice-Drum" featuring their hits and state of the art animation - nothing short of a brilliant performance.

July 28, 1996 Kansas was of Hollywood's Rockwalk and in 2005 the group was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame.

While touring since their beginnings, in 2010 Kansas began their "Collegiate Symphony Tour" which help raise funds and awareness for collegiate music programs.  University symphonies participated in the performance of their hits during the tour. In 2011, they performed with the United States Army Orchestra in the "Carry On Concert" in Washington, DC honoring Veterans on Veterans Day 11/11/11.

Many members make Georgia their home today. The current members are  Phil Ehart - Drums,  Steve Walsh - Vocals/Keyboard,  Richard Williams - lead guitar,  Billy Greer - Bass and  Dave Ragsdale - Violin.
